I don't like to hang my saddle bag with the leather strap. It will cause the bag vibrate and maybe will cause another problem to the motorcycle. As a result I cut the metal plat as required (the paper board as a mold) and drill some hole and put mushroom head screw and tight with the nut. The bag is rigid enough since the internal liner are made from good polymer.

Sad to say ... I need to remove the passenger foot peg to give a enough room for saddle bag installation.
